Release 4.0 Features

DataDirect XML Converters 4.0 provides the following new features:

• Expanded EDI dialect and message support — DataDirect XML Converters now supports the HIPAA EDI dialect. Expanded message support for currently supported EDI dialects includes the following:
  • ATIS: 004010
  • EDIFACT: D08A
  • IATA: 07-1
  • X12: 005050

  The current EDI message support status is summarized here:

• Enhanced SEF support — DataDirect XMLConverters provides the following enhancements to Standard Exchange Format (SEF) support:
  • Enhanced support for the SEF grammar
  • The ability to load SEF files programmatically
  • Integration with Stylus Studio's EDI to XML Module, which allows you to build and test SEF file extensions using a graphic user interface (GUI) without writing any code.
• New URI parameters — DataDirect XMLConverters provides several new URI parameters to make managing XML conversions even easier:
  • atis= allows you to specify whether or not you want to test an X12 EDI file to see if it is of the ATIS dialect and then process it accordingly.
  • hipaa= allows you to specify whether or not you want to test an X12 EDI file to see if it is of the HIPAA dialect and then process it accordingly.
  • ignore= allows you to ignore specific errors when performing an XML conversion.
  • indent= specifies whether or not to indent XML output.

Installation

Notes regarding the installation process:

• After you have started the installation process, a progress bar is displayed on the screen. If you choose to cancel the installation at this stage, files that have already been copied to your machine will not be removed. You must delete these files manually from the installation directory.
• The DataDirect XML Converter installer accepts multiple product keys. For details, refer to the DataDirect XML Converters Installation Guide.

Using the Online Documents

You can view the PDF version of the online documents with Adobe Acrobat Reader version 4.0 or higher. The PDF books are an installable option for DataDirect XML Converters. For instructions on how to use the online documents and Acrobat Reader, refer to the last chapter in the DataDirect XML Converters Installation Guide.

DataDirect XML Converters Files

The following files are placed on your installer directory when you extract the contents of the 40_xmlconverters.jar file:

• 3rdPartySoftware.txt — Third-Party license restrictions
• ddxmlconvertersj.jar — File used to install DataDirect XML Converters
• installer.properties — Properties for the Java installer
• license.htm — The End User License Agreement (EULA)
• README.htm — This file
• XMLConvertersInstaller.jar — File containing the installer
• ExtensionTool.jar — Evaluation extension utility

When you install DataDirect XML Converters, the installer copies the following directories and files to the product installation directory (as determined by the user), represented here as "INSTALL_DIR".
